The North East Region of Ireland is a Heaven for Anglers who want to enjoy Game and Course Fishing . The rivers are excellent for Trout – Sea Trout and Salmon Fishing during the Season which starts on 1st March until 12th Oct .

The river FANE is a beautiful medium sized river where You can enjoy the Trout Fishing . It has hatches of large dark olives , iron blue duns and various sedges . The FANE and his Tributories holding good Stocks of wild brown Trout , and from midsummer onwards there is also Sea Trout in the Fane

The angling for Salmon starts from the month of July until the 12 th . of October. The months of September and October are the ideal Salmon Months.

There are other Rivers (Blackwater –Kells and others) where Gleneven Guest House would Organising Angling Trips to. For Angling at these Rivers there would be Permits needed .

Many angling guests are coming from around Europe to enjoy Course Fishing here in South Monaghan.

The huge number of small and large lakes are the basis for very good fishing for Pike and other species.

Gleneven Guest House have boats available for hire. Many lakes have stands available. The fishing on the lakes is without any costs for the Anglers.

A fantastic lake in the early part ( Late March to June) of the year for Tench. Regular size is from 4lbs to 6lbs. A variety of methods can be used including fishing from a boat. Pike are very plentiful in this beautiful lake. Very easy access to the lake makes it very suitable for disabled anglers.

DERRY

Derry Lake is 1 hectares, up to 4.5 m deep and has a good stock of big bream and tench. Roach rudd perch and pike are also on hands. Anchored fishing spots were created and parking spaces are available.
